CLEAR CHANNEL Smooth Jazz WSMJ/BALTIMORE stunted all morning as "CHRistmas 104.3," playing holiday music -- before giving way to "CHANNEL 104.3, bringing Alternative to BALTIMORE’s airwaves. The first song was LINKIN PARK "Given Up, " followed by 311 "Down."
The station will feature "ELLIOT In The Morning," simulcast from sister station WWDC/WASHINGTON.
"This is a very exciting day for BALTIMORE radio listeners. The Rock/Alternative format is unique to the area and features some music that has not been played here for quite some time," said WASHINGTON-BALTIMORE OM JEFF KAPUGI. "The opportunity to add ELLIOT In The Morning to CHANNEL 104.3 is huge. He already does well in the ratings in BALTIMORE on a DC signal. Imagine what we are going to do on a BALTIMORE station."
ELLIOT’s daily program is currently heard on WASHINGTON’s DC 101 and WRXL/RICHMOND, and will now be heard along the I-95 corridor from the PENNSYLVANIA border to the VA/NC line.
"Media consumers are more selective than ever about where to spend their valuable time. It is our pleasure and responsibility to provide compelling and engaging programming to the marketplace. ELLIOT is a powerhouse of entertainment. Paired with great music you can’t find elsewhere in BALTIMORE, it is a winner for listeners and advertisers. We are thankful to BALTIMORE for many good years of Jazz listening on WSMJ, but it is time to change the channel to CHANNEL 104.3," said Pres./Marketing Manager HARTLEY ADKINS.
WSMJ will change calls to WCHH effective MAY 29th at 12:10a.
