Lawyers for the SEATTLE SUPERSONICS' ownership group filed a motion TUESDAY to block CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KJR-A/SEATTLE host MITCH LEVY and author SHERMAN ALEXIE from testifying in the lawsuit over the team's attempt to break its lease at KEYARENA and move to OKLAHOMA CITY, according to the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER.
LEVY and ALEXIE are scheduled to testify for the city in the case, but the SONICS, through a motion by attorney PAUL TAYLOR, say that neither has any "relevant testimonial knowledge" about the case.
The team says that LEVY, who it calls "an entertainer," would not add anything to the case and would make the proceedings even more of a media circus, and ALEXIE, the critically acclaimed author and filmmaker who writes columns about the SONICS for the alternative weekly paper THE STRANGER and who would testify as a season ticket holder and a member of the Native American community, would only bring his "biased, profanity-laden views" about the team.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for JUNE 6th; the trial is scheduled to begin on JUNE 16th.
