CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS INC. spent more than $760,000 in the first quarter lobbying against the combination of two satellite radio companies and on other issues, according to a disclosure form, reports ENCORE.COM.
The company, like most of the broadcast radio industry, opposes the proposed $5 billion acquisition of XM SATELLITE RADIO by SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO.
That deal was cleared by the Justice Department in MARCH (NET NEWS 3/24), but still needs approval by the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION.
