Condolences to family and friends of longtime Country WJRS-WJKY-A (LAKER COUNTRY 104.9) owner MAE HOOVER, who died FRIDAY afternoon (6/6) after a long battle with cancer at 70 in DANVILLE, KY. HOOVER and her late husband WELBY bought WJRS in 1966 and WJKY in 1967, and she operated the stations until her death. She also served as State Representative, replacing her husband after his death, and was a delegate to the 1992 Republican National Convention.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the "MAE HOOVER Community Service Scholarship Fund," with donations accepted at the FIRST NATIONAL BANK, the BANK OF JAMESTOWN, the MONTICELLO BANKING CO., or at the H.E. PRUITT MEMORY CHAPEL.
