Another former CLEAR CHANNEL executive follows RANDY MICHAELS to TRIBUNE CO., as former CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO INTERACTIVE VP of Sales and Marketing KIM JOHNSON joins TRIBUNE INTERACTIVE as SVP of LOCAL SALES. JOHNSON, most recently EVP Sales at CITYREACH LATINO, has also worked for ENTERCOM and CITADEL.
In a jokey press release typical of TRIBUNE's missives since MICHAELS and SAM ZELL arrived at the company, TRIBUNE INTERACTIVE (and former CLEAR CHANNEL executive) MARC CHASE is quoted as saying that "The promotions department was testing a new online contest program, and somehow her entry form ended up in our human resources department. The rules said we had to pick a winner, and it was easier to give her a job than explain it was an accident."
In the release, which claims JOHNSON is a "former waitress at 'Knockers -- The Place For Hot Racks and Cold Brews" ("I once won a contest at the restaurant up-selling shots to guys who asked for beer," the release quotes JOHNSON as saying, "how different can this be?"), JOHNSON says "I thought I was entering a contest to win tickets to a GUNS N' ROSES reunion show, but an invite to this party is even better. The 'new' TRIBUNE is revolutionizing content, sales, and promotion —- this is the place to be right now. We’re utilizing our brands and serving our audiences in exciting new ways and we want creative and successful sales professionals to join us!"
