It's MONDAY morning and time for RADIOCRUNCH Pres. ANTHONY ACAMPORA to take a look inside some SPRING diary returns as well as JUNE PPM monthlies from HOUSTON and PHILADELPHIA.
San Francisco: KSOL Completes Clean Sweep; Cumulus Strong 25-54
UNIVISION Regional Mexican KSOL completed another sweep of THE BAY AREA again this book -- although the station was off slightly in share from an enormous WINTER book. CITADEL Talk KGO continued its 12+ dominance -- however they were off a bit in key demos. Here's what happened in the SPRING in SAN FRANCISCO:
25-54: KSOL dropped back to normal levels, but held on to the top spot over ENTERCOM AC KOIT, whih remains #2. CUMULUS landed three of the top six stations this book. AAA KFOG held in 3rd. ROCK KSAN surged from 9th to 5th, with Sports KNBR vaulting from 12th to 6th. INNER CITY Urban AC KBLX leaped from 6th to 4th. CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC KISQ was off just a tick, but slides from 5th to 7th. CBS News KCBS-A holds 8th place. UNIVISION Spanish Adult Hits KBRG leaps from 12th to 9th, tying them with KGO and CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KIOI (STAR 101.3).
CLEAR CHANNEL Urban-leaning Rhythmic KMEL drops from 7th to 12th, tying them with SBS Regional Mexican KRZZ. ENTERCOM Classical KDFC moves from 15th to 14th, with CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic KYLD holding in 15th place.
None of CBS's four FM's ranked top 15 among adults 25-54, although Alternative KITS did surge from 24th to 16th. UNIVISION Latin Urban KVVF leaps from 25th to 17th. An off book for CLEAR CHANNEL Smooth AC KKSF -- which plummets from 9th to 18th. This isn't a good sign for a format struggling terribly with the meter - and PPM heading to San Francisco later this year. CBS Hot AC KLLC ties with KKSF for 18th place. CITADEL Talk KSFO and CLEAR CHANNEL Mexican Oldies KSJO tie for 20th.
Two of the more recent BAY AREA sign ons continue to slide. ENTERCOM Country KBWF dips to 22nd place and is down 39% from a year ago 25-54. Meanwhile, CBS Rhythmic AC KMVQ (MOVIN') is flat or down in share for a fourth straight book. KBWF and KMVQ are tied with FLYING BEAR Dance outlet KNGY. Also of note is CBS Classic Hits KFRC dropping back down to 30th place 25-54.
18-49: KSOL is #1 by a landslide again -- despite being off two full shares. KMEL climbs from 3rd to 2nd, changing spots with KOIT. KSAN surges from 7th to 4th, with KYLD dipping to 5th, despite a decent share gain. KBLX leaps from 9th to 6th. KFOG and KISQ tie for 7th. KRZZ was 9th and KBRG rounds out the top 10.
KIOI falls out of the top 10 and now ranks 11th. KITS, KNBR, and KVVF all tie for 12th. KCBS-A (19th to 15th) and KDFC (23rd to 16th) both score major jumps. KBWF (while off 25-54) held steady 18-49 and ranks 17th. KGO plummets from 9th to a tie with KBWF for 17th. KLLC and KSJO are tied for 19th. KKSF, KMVQ, and KNGY all tie for 21st, with NEXTMEDIA AC KEZR (out of SAN JOSE) ranking 24th.
18-34: KSOL, KMEL, and KYLD retain the top three spots. KVVF rises from 6th to 4th, passing KRZZ which holds in 5th. KBRG leaps from 7th to 6th as Spanish stations grab four of the topp six spots 18-34 in SAN FRANCISCO. KOIT, KSAN, KISQ, and KITS round out the top 10.
Houston: Radio One, Clear Channel Lead H-Town; KRBE Holding Firm
