KSBJ EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION Christian AC KSBJ/HOUSTON raised more than $5.4 million in three days during its annual SHARATHON fundraiser. The fundraiser was held June 25th to June 27th. The station raised $3,720,000 toward monthly operations and $1,700,000 for special projects that sustain KSBJ’s mission of ministry. The station’s monthly operations goal was met FRIDAY morning (6/27) at 9:01a (CT) and the special projects goal was met in the last moments at 10p (CT) on FRIDAY night. The week ended with a free Share-a-Song concert at GREENSPOINT MALL.
“Unlike commercial radio stations, the funds raised for KSBJ are used not only to run the station, but also to further the ministry work of KSBJ,” said VP/Programming JON HULL. “It is amazing to see the generosity of our listeners and witness their eagerness to help KSBJ stand as a voice of hope in the HOUSTON community. We feel so blessed to have the privilege to serve and give back to the very community that keeps our doors open.”
HOUSTON native ISRAEL HOUGHTON dropped by for support and AMY GRANT performed live on-air and offered volunteers and listeners encouragement. KSBJ simulcast live with LONDON’s PREMIER CHRISTIAN RADIO, a station KSBJ mentors, as it concurrently held its own annual fundraiser.
“The KSBJ team is humbled by the faithful giving of our listeners, which has made many technological and philanthropic new beginnings possible for KSBJ. Thanks to the support of our listeners, KSBJ is able to improve the station, expand our coverage in Brenham and Bryan/College Station, launch two new HD formats, offer a helping hand to Houstonians and serve the local and international community,” said KSBJ Pres./GM TIM McDERMOTT.
