The NCAA will not be banning beer and alcohol ads from radio and TV coverage of college sports. The NCAA's executive committee rejected the ban THURSDAY; the ban was supported by a letter signed by over 100 college athletic directors and presidents.
"We tried that one time," UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA President and NCAA executive committee chair MICHAEL ADAMS said of the proposed ban, "and that didn't seem to work very well."
The NCAA already limits alcohol ads to one minute per hour, limits ads to items with 6% or less alcohol content during championship broadcasts, and bans in-arena ads and alcohol sales during championship games.
