MAGIC BROADCASTING Urban KDAY (THE BEAT)/LOS ANGELES morning radio star STEVE HARVEY will count down to the re-launch of 93.5 from its new tall tower on AUGUST 15th. THE BEAT will premier on the new tower with an all-atar lineup and a fresh mix of hit music designed to appeal to both African-American Adults 18-49 and to English-dominant Latinos 18-49.
STEVE HARVEY’s top-rated morning show will return to a greatly improved 93.5 signal with a new tower hundreds of feet in the air and 11 miles closer to downtown LOS ANGELES on MONDAY, AUGUST 18th. Joining HARVEY will be MICHAEL BAISDEN in afternoons, MONIQUE and WENDY WILLIAMS in middays, THEOS’ updated Quiet Storm At Night and KEITH SWEAT "Dedications" in late nights.
According to veteran engineer ELLIOT KLEIN, "The new 93.5 tower will improve the signal by over 200% in LA and allow KWIE 93.5 to return to serve the IE as a full market FM."
Market Manager KARLA SANTOS stated, "Historically, format launches create excitement, but aren't captured in the diary recall method until months later. We timed the sign-on of the new FLO 93.5 in the INLAND EMPIRE to coincide with ARBITRON's PPM currency survey for release on OCTOBER 8th.
Veteran PD STEVE SMITH will sign-on KWIE 93.5 as a mass-appeal station on FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th to optimize PPM ratings in the IE for advertisers on day one. SANTOS continued, "We believe that THEO will also create 'big PPM buzz' in L.A. on a stronger signal with the return of BAISDEN, addition of MONIQUE LIVE in middays and GOODFELLA FRIDAYS live."
ROY LAUGHLIN, now a former partner who has just joined CBS RADIO/LOS ANGELES as SVP/Market Mgr., added, "I was drawn to the dramatically improved signal opportunity at 93.5 that was possible by building a new tower which now reaches an additional THREE million people in the #1 radio market. I was aware that the new tower enabled the return of a separate full-signal FM radio station to the INLAND EMPIRE (Market #26).
