TRIBUNE CO. has named former DIRECTV CEO EDDY HARTENSTEIN as the new Publisher of the LOS ANGELES TIMES. HARTENSTEIN, who is a board member of SIRIUS XM RADIO, replaces the departed DAVID HILLER in the publisher's chair, which has seen substantial turnover in recent years.
"I'm not coming into this with blinders on," HARTENSTEIN told the TIMES. "I realize that the problems are huge and daunting, but I don't believe there's anything that can't be fixed as long as everyone is pulling in the same direction.... I love challenges. I love complex issues and problems, and this certainly met all that."
