He's been the ratings "king" in the PHILADELPHIA market for many years, and now AC WBEB (B101)/PHILADELPHIA owner JERRY LEE will accept an appointment by KING CARL XVI GUSTAF of SWEDEN to his Royal Order of Knights in recognition of his role in establishing the STOCKHOLM PRIZE IN CRIMINOLOGY.
“I am truly humbled by this once-in-a-lifetime honor,” said LEE. “The vision and commitment of the SWEDISH government, the UNIVERSITY OF STOCKHOLM and the entire criminology community in establishing the STOCKHOLM PRIZE was unbelievable. I share this distinction with all of them and pledge to honor the title by continuing to work tirelessly to advance the field of criminology.”
LEE was instrumental in establishing the STOCKHOLM PRIZE in 2005. Similar in purpose to a NOBEL PRIZE, the STOCKHOLM PRIZE was created to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of criminological research or in the application of research findings.
LEE has also made substantial donations for research on crime prevention in the U.S. and around the world. The JERRY LEE CENTER OF CRIMINOLOGY and professorships in criminology he endowed at the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA has helped to make PENN the top-ranked criminology program in the US. Last month, LEE joined forces with CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY in launching the JERRY LEE CENTRE OF EXPERIMENTAL CRIMINOLOGY.
