Madden To Pittsburgh's X? Not So Fast

MARK MADDEN's rumored move to CLEAR CHANNEL Alternative WXDX (105.9 THE X)/PITTSBURGH for afternoons has hit a speed bump with his former employer, crosstown ESPN Sports WEAE-A (1250 ESPN), indicating that MADDEN remains under contract there. The PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE reports that 1250 ESPN GM MIKE THOMPSON told the paper's BOB SMIZIK that "I would expect that we would be the first to know if MARK had interest in going back on the air someplace other than ESPN."
MADDEN was yanked from the air at 1250 ESPN on MAY 27th after controversial comments about Sen. EDWARD KENNEDY; WXDX let afternoon host STEVE GRIMM go last week, fueling talk in the market that the station, the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS flagship, would pick up MADDEN.
