Federal prosecutors asked the court to issue a nine-year prison term for former Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO host BERNIE WARD, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to a charge of distributing child pornography in a plea bargain, according to the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE.
WARD, who was fired by KGO in DECEMBER, is presently free on $250,000 bail and under house arrest with electronic monitoring. He claimed to have been researching a book, but prosecutors said that he was part of a group trading pornographic images on the Internet. Prosecutors could have asked for a 20-year sentence, and WARD's attorney DORON WEISBERG told the CHRONICLE that he will ask for the minimum sentence of five years.
