JAY MARIOTTI is denying that he is joining ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A/BOSTON, its website, the BOSTON GLOBE, cable channel NESN, or any other BOSTON property.
The prominent sports columnist and ESPN "AROUND THE HORN" personality told the BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM, "In all honesty, I’ve not spoken to anybody about any job in BOSTON nor has my agent because I talked to him last night ... This is crazy. They say I’m coming to NESN, they say I’m coming to the GLOBE, they say I’m coming to WEEI. I have had no discussions with anybody in BOSTON about the RED SOX, TOM BRADY's foot or me working there." WEEI has been hiring sportswriters for its WEEI.com website in recent months.
MARIOTTI stunned the sports media world this week by abruptly resigning from his longtime post as columnist for the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, saying that he feels newspapers are dying and he does not want to continue working for a struggling paper. He said at the time that he was talking to several websites about writing for them. MARIOTTI was a radio host at SPORTING NEWS RADIO for several years.
