Veteran sports reporter PETE MEDHURST joins the NAVY RADIO NETWORK as sideline reporter for football and play-by-play voice for basketball. MEDHURST, who previously called play-by-play for NAVY football on cable network CSTV and has called men's lacrosse and men's and women's basketball for the NAVY RADIO NETWORK, joins ROB SOCCI, OMAR NELSON, and famed sportswriter JOHN FEINSTEIN on the NAVY football broadcasts. He replaces SOCCI on the basketball broadcasts.
"This is a great opportunity for me personally and I'm excited to join BOB, OMAR and JOHN," said MEDHURST. "I believe my presence on the sideline will be a positive addition to the broadcast. I can provide fans with some insight on injuries and strategy and other situations by relating information that can only be picked up down on the field."
MEDHURST will also interview coach KEN NIUMATALOLO at halftime. "I think our fans will be very interested to hear the head coach's thoughts on what has transpired during the first half," said MEDHURST.
The new duties add to an already interesting year for MEDHURST, who has also served as airborne traffic reporter at METRO NETWORKS/WASHINGTON and as the track announcer at ROSECROFT RACEWAY; his wife BRENDA gave birth to the couple's third child, KELLY, in JUNE.
