October 22, 2008 at 7:05 AM (PT)
MEL WHEELER Country WSLC/ROANOKE, VA MD/morning co-host ROBYNN JAYMES is handing over her MD duties to PD/morning co-host BRETT SHARP in order to give more time as a volunteer for the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. JAYMES is the President of the LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE in Central and Southwest VIRGINIA for the organization.
She will also continue in her role as co-host of the morning show.
JAYMES said: "I am extremely passionate about Country music and Country radio and there is only one thing that could sway my focus and that is the fight against cancer. I lost my father to lung cancer, had my own breast cancer scare and recently my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was never a smoker and that blows me away. I'm also blessed to say that she is 6 months in remission."
In two weeks ROBYNN will travel to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY's headquarters in ATLANTA to receive a national award for "Volunteer Communicator Of The Year."
