The COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM has announced a $1.1 million fundraising campaign. The monies raised will go the Precious Jewel Fund, to help defray the costs of the acquisition of instruments that belonged to MAYBELLE CARTER, JOHNNY CASH and BILL MONROE. The HOF recently settled with the estate of ROBERT W. McLEAN (NET NEWS 1/5) for $750,000, allowing the four instruments to stay in the HOF. In order to keep the prized possessions in place, the HOF must pay the amount no later than FEBRUARY 22nd.
The Precious Jewel Fund launches with a $150,000 donation from RPM MANAGEMENT/NASHVILLE's SCOTT SIMAN and a $300,000 gift from the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC. Donations made be made on the phone, by mail or online. For more information visit www.countrymusichalloffame.com.
