New N.H. Senator A Former Radio Station Owner

New NEW HAMPSHIRE Senator J. BONNIE NEWMAN, who has been selected to replace JUDD GREGG (R-NH) with GREGG's appointment as Secretary of Commerce, is a former radio station owner. NEWMAN, a Republican who has been chosen by Governor JOHN LYNCH to fill GREGG's remaining term in the Senate, was the founder and owner of COASTAL BROADCASTING CORP., which put WZEA (now CITADEL Classic Rock WSAK (THE SHARK))/HAMPTON-PORTSMOUTH-DOVER, NH on the air.
She also served as interim President of the UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE in 2006-07 and serves on the board of telecom company FAIRPOINT COMMUNICATIONS. NEWMAN was GREGG's Chief of Staff in the 1980s and an assistant to President GEORGE H.W. BUSH in 1989-91.
