AWRT Honors Melodie Virtue

AMERICAN WOMEN IN RADIO & TELEVISION (AWRT) is honoring MELODIE VIRTUE as the latest recipient of the 2008 AWRT Achievement Award. The Achievement Award, goes to an AWRT member who has helped strengthen the role of AWRT and contributed to the betterment of the media industry. It will be presented at AWRT’s Women’s Media Forum to be held in WASHINGTON, D.C., on FRIDAY, MARCH 6th, 2009.
MELODIE A. VIRTUE is the owner in the WASHINGTON, D.C. office of GARVEY SCHUBERT BARER, where she focuses on broadcast, Internet, copyright and emerging technologies law. She has been an AWRT member for more than two decades.
"For over 20 years, MELODIE has been tireless in her support of AWRT at both a local and national level. Her support and expertise have significantly contributed to the increased stature and relevance of AWRT," 2007/2008 National Chair MARY BENNETT said.
"It is I who should be recognizing AWRT and not the other way around," VIRTUE said. "Any small contribution I've made to AWRT has come back to me ten-fold, not only in growing my depth of knowledge of the industry but also in getting to know and collaborate with some of the best professionals our industry has to offer."
