Changes At Montage: Re-Grouping In The Works
February 19, 2009 at 10:52 AM (PT)
As reported here YESTERDAY, along with other sources, there were big changes at MONTAGE MUSIC/NASHVILLE. A source at the label told ALL ACCESS this morning: "Contrary to the rumorsMONTAGE was not permanently closed down yesterday. There are ongoing conversations taking place to determine the best course of action moving forward. Our management, like every other management team facing this harsh economy, is examining the existing business model/structure and identifying what changes need to be made. At this point, the current structure is not working well in this volatile climate. Therefore, changes are being made."
While discussions are still taking place, it looks like MONTAGE's publishing arm will remain in place.
With all of that said, most MONTAGE employees exited yesterday, including President ALLEN BUTLER, Head of Marketing DEB HAUS, A&R rep ANTHONY MARTIN, Southeast Rep TED WAGNER, Mid-Atlantic rep LIZ SLEDGE, West Coast Promo Rep JON CONLON, Southwest Promo Rep JIM BUCEK, Marketing Coordinator STEVIE ZEA, and Promo Coordinator/Secondary Promotion KATHLEEN DROSEY.
As far as the future of the artists, the label is saying that they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The roster includes ANDY GRIGGS, The ROAD HAMMERS, MATT KING, MINNIE MURPHY, LITTLE TEXAS and RYAN SHUPE.
