TOWSON UNIVERSITY noncommercial WTMD/BALTIMORE has launched an all-local-music station on its HD-2 channel. THE BALTIMORE CHANNEL is available on WTMD HD-2 and online at wtmd.org and is airing music from BALTIMORE-based musicians 24/7.
"BALTIMORE is one of the most important music scenes in America today and it only seemed natural to make sure that the musicians who play their hearts out here also have a radio station where they can be heard at any time," said WTMD GM STEPHEN YASKO.
HD RADIO developer iBIQUITY's BOB STRUBLE said, "We congratulate WTMD on the launch of its all-local digital HD Radio channel right here in our own backyard. Providing the community with sounds of local artists is an excellent use of HD Radio technology. I look forward to listening to THE BALTIMORE CHANNEL FM/HD2 on the way to work." iBIQUITY is based in COLUMBIA, MD, between BALTIMORE and WASHINGTON.
The new channel's launch will be heralded with a special day of WTMD's WINTER Fund Drive on WEDNESDAY (2/25), with several local musicians on hand to answer phones and solicit donations.
