RADIOMILWAUKEE Variety WYMS (88NINE)/MILWAUKEE just held its 2nd annual MILWAUKEE MUSIC AWARDS, with local soul and R&B group KINGS GO FORTH was the big winner with five awards, including Artist of the Year.
The band also won Song of the Year, for "One Day"; The TNT Award (Artist Most Likely to Blow Up); Best New Artist; and Memorable Concert of the Year, for its show at Bay View Bash. Other top winners included THE LACKLOVES, who won Album of the Year for "Cathedral Square Park," and KID CUT UP, for Club DJ of the Year.
The 2nd annual MILWAUKEE MUSIC AWARDS celebrates local musicians in 14 categories. Winners were chosen by listeners who voted online and staff of RADIOMILWAUKEE, which plays at least one local artist every hour.
"The awards are certainly meant to celebrate the award-winning and nominated musicians, but they're also another way of telling our audience just how good we have it in this city," PD SAM VAN HALLGREN said. "MILWAUKEE has an incredible music scene."
