FCC Extends Sirius XM Lease Deadline, Asks For Comments

The deadline for compliance with the "voluntary commitment" by SIRIUS XM RADIO to leasing 4% of its combined channel capacity to qualified minority-owned entities has been extended from TODAY (2/27) to MAY 29th, and the FCC has opened the plan for public comment. The Commission is looking for comment on defining "qualified entity," the pricess, technical and financial qualifications of lessees, and other terms and conditions. Comments are due by MARCH 30th, with replies due APRIL 14th.
The original deadline of NOVEMBER 28th was previously extended to TODAY, and the Commission acknowledged that it has not provided all the details necessary for the implementation of the requirement.
