A week after the FCC approved the transfer of Contemporary Christian WPAL-F/RIDGEVILLE, SC-CHARLESTON by receiver CHARLES W. CHERRY to CASWELL CAPITAL PARTNERS, LLC, over the objection of former licensee GRESHAM COMMUNICATIONS, CASWELL has applied to sell the station to WAY-FM MEDIA GROUP, INC. for $1.65 million. The station has been airing WAY-FM's programming under a time brokerage agreement, but negotiations to finalize the sale are still ongoing.
In another deal filed with the FCC, SORENSON SOUTHEAST RADIO, LLC is selling Rock AC WZGA (GEORGIA 105.1)/HELEN, GA to TUGART PROPERTIES, LLC for $705,000 in a promissory note. The station was owned by CLEAR CHANNEL as WHEL until 2005 and was used as a simulcast of the company's WWVA-F/ATLANTA before SORENSON flipped the station to Rock AC. DOUGLAS M. SUTTON, JR., 50% owner of TUGART, has held a time brokerage agreement and option to buy the station since JUNE 1, 2006.
And BOB BITTNER's BLUE JEY BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. is selling silent WWBK-A/BRUNSWICK, ME to JAMES B. BLEIKAMP for $35,000.
