B96/Twin Cities Tries For Another New Tower Location

The latest twist in the long saga of NORTHERN LIGHTS BROADCASTING's attempt to move its Top 40/Rhythmic KTTB (B96)/GLENCOE, MN-MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL deeper into the TWIN CITIES metro is a filing reported by UPPER MIDWEST BROADCASTING that would put the station at the transmitter site of CLEAR CHANNEL Sports KFXN-A (THE SCORE) in NEW HOPE, MN. The new site would put a city grade signal over MINNEAPOLIS and the western suburbs as well as part of ST. PAUL; the facility would be a Class C3 with 19 kw at 77 meters above average terrain and a change of city of license to EDINA, necessitating a "backfill" move of silent KGLB-A/ST. PETER to GLENCOE so that the latter is not left without a station.
In KTTB's unsuccessful fight for ST. LOUIS PARK approval to move its transmitter to the site of SALEM Talk WWTC-A (THE PATRIOT) and KYCR-A, NORTHERN LIGHTS alleged that CLEAR CHANNEL was behind the opposition because former CLEAR CHANNEL Country KEEY (K102) AE CLAIRE CHRISTISON was a leader against the proposal; CHRISTISON noted that she is a local resident, disclosed her affiliation, was not paid for her position on the issue, and was among those let go in CLEAR CHANNEL cutbacks before the hearing, appearing at the hearings after her departure from the company and as a private citizen.
