SPORTSBYBROOKS.COM's BROOKS MELCHIOR is reporting that ESPN RADIO is now asking affiliates for compensation for the right to carry the network's programming. MELCHIOR reports that fees for non-owned-and-operated stations in top-30 markets are as high as $100,000.
The network has not responded to ALL ACCESS' request for comment, but Dir./Media Relations JOSH KRULEWITZ told MELCHIOR, "We don’t get into contractual specifics publicly. With that said each agreement and market is structured differently. They are all designed to be mutually beneficial to our affiliates and ESPN and are mutually agreed upon."
