CBC President HUBERT LACROIX told the network's employees TODAY that the company will need to cut 800 jobs this SUMMER to meet its target of C$171 million in budget reductions and balance its budget. The network will also institute a 20% pay cut for senior managers through reductions in bonuses, and corporate salaries will be reduced 5%.
The TORONTO STAR reports that VP of English Services RICHARD STURSBERG said that at least half of the job cuts will come from Anglo departments, 20% from regional services and the rest from the network. He said the television side will be hit harder by the cuts than radio.
