Salaries Cut At N.Y. Times Co.

The NEW YORK TIMES CO. is cutting non-union salaries at THE NEW YORK TIMES MEDIA GROUP by 5% starting in APRIL. The affected employees will receive 10 additional days off to use before the end of 2009. Employees at other divisions will be cut by 2.5%, and staffers at the INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE will see separate cuts. The company, which is characterizing the cuts as "temporary," has also eliminated 100 positions on the business side of the flagship property, THE NEW YORK TIMES.
The TIMES CO. owns one radio property, Classical WQXR/NEW YORK.
