With new reduced rates for newspapers announced MONDAY by the ASSOCIATED PRESS, the AP will now develop a new rate schedule for radio and television stations to be announced at the company's JULY board meeting.
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES reports that the newspaper rate reductions will cut $35 million from AP's assessments in 2010, added to last year's $30 million reduction. The wire service will also offer a reduced wire for papers with minimal needs and will allow cancellation with one-year's notice as opposed to the previous two-year requirement, although papers continuing under the old cancellation requirement will get a discount.
