Schwarzenegger: 'Are John And Ken Running The State?'
April 27, 2009 at 11:32 AM (PT)
Faced with poor poll showings for pending ballot measures he has staked his office on supporting, Gov. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER turned to criticizing CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES afternoon hosts JOHN KOBYLT and KEN CHIAMPOU, the harshest and most active critics of the propositions. Talking to LOS ANGELES TIMES columnist GEORGE SKELTON, SCHWARZENEGGER ripped his own Republican party for being "total idelogues. They just care about one thing: Let's defeat this and let's see how much power JOHN AND KEN have. Are JOHN AND KEN running the state or is the governor running the state? Who is running the state here?"
Who is running the state here?
JOHN AND KEN have reserved their heaviest criticism for Republicans who they accuse of having reneged on a no-tax-increase pledge and whose leadership they believe cut a deal to provide enough votes for the recent massive tax increase in exchange for putting ballot measure 1-A, a weak spending cap that allows spending increases as long as taxes are also increased and extends the big tax increase for up to four additional years. The hosts once supported SCHWARZENEGGER but have been increasingly critical of him for increasing taxes; asked if he listens to JOHN AND KEN, SCHWARZENEGGER told SKELTON, "No. I don't have time to listen to radio."
