April 29, 2009 at 1:20 PM (PT)
The COUNTRY MUSIC MARATHON was held in MUSIC CITY on SATURDAY, APRIL 25th, and it was hotter than expected. Well more than 30,000 runners participated with the gun going off at 7a (CT).
ALL ACCESS Country Editor JIM ASKER and GAC-TV personality SUZANNE ALEXANDER both participated for the LLS (LUEKEMIA LYMPHOMA SOCIETY) "TEAM IN TRAINING." JIM happened to be the Top Fund-Raiser for TENNESSEE, and was presented a new GIBSON GUITAR at the LLS pasta dinner the night before the race.
Both ALEXANDER and ASKER have been training with the WILLIAMSON COUNTY team, coached by one of NASHVILLE's top female runners, STEPHNE HANSCOM. They have been training since JANUARY 3rd and mainly in weather that was not nearly as warm as it happened to be on Marathon Day- "It was hot as hell,' said ALEXANDER. "You know every SATURDAY we trained in cold, snow, rain and then it's a scorcher on race-day…go figure. Hey we all did our best- and it was for a great cause." ASKER raised over $9,350 at this point. ALEXANDER has also raised more than $2,000 for LLS.
Other MUSIC ROW stalwarts who survived the heat and hills were COLUMBIA/NASHVILLE VP JIMMY RECTOR, SONY/NASHVILLE Stan Marczewski
Manager, Strategic Marketing STAN MARCZEWSKI,BIGGER PICTURE ENTERTAINMENT/STROUDAVARIOUS Promo king JACK CHRISTOPHER, SHOW DOG Promo Coordinator ALI SPARICO and Chart Czar PJ OLSEN. Finally, kudos to WARNER BROS. artist WHITNEY DUNCAN, who ran the half-marathon in an amazing one hour and forty-two minutes.
Congrats to all.
