PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS and FOX NEWS CHANNEL host GLENN BECK's new deal with SIMON AND SCHUSTER gives BECK profit participating in each new book, reports the WALL STREET JOURNAL.
BECK has previously written three books for the publisher, with hardcover sales escalating from 50,000 for "THE REAL AMERICA" to 500,000 for "AN INCONVENIENT BOOK" to 775,000 for "THE CHRISTMAS SWEATER," leading the company to give BECK profit participation, which it offers only to its biggest-selling authors like STEPHEN KING, in exchange for lower advances. BECK has three books scheduled for this year, one ("AMERICA'S MARCH TO SOCIALISM") as an audiobook in MAY, one ("GLENN BECK'S COMMON SENSE") as an e-book in JUNE and a paperback later, and a hardcover ("ARGUING WITH IDIOTS") set for SEPTEMBER.
"I'd rather take a lower advance and have a partnership," BECK told the JOURNAL. "I'll bet on myself and a smart person on the other side of the table every time."
