THE MICHAEL BASIDEN SHOW will offer its listeners a new weekly feature designed to call attention to domestic violence issues through the end of JUNE. Originally, this was a TUESDAY feature that kept growing. As calls to the RAPE ABUSE and INCEST NATIONAL NETWORK (RAINN) hotline in WASHINGTON increased substantially, a decision was made to make this a regular feature.
“The opportunity to help victims of injustice has long been a cornerstone of our program,” said MICHAEL BAISDEN. “I’m pleased to know that so many people who need assistance of a group like RAINN are now reaching out and receiving help in their own time of crisis because our show may have helped point them in that direction. Sixty per-cent of rape cases go unreported each year. I’m proud to be working with RAINN to help lower that percentage.”
According to RAINN VP/Communications LYNN PARRISH, afternoon calls to the National Sexual Assault Hotline on APRIL 28th while BAISDEN was on the air increased 206% and were up 91% for the full day compared with TUESDAY call volume in the month of MARCH. Call volume again spiked on MAY 5th as MICHAEL BAISDEN spoke about the importance of reporting rape to police with the hotline realizing a 167% increase during the show and a 61% increase for the full day.
