Ofcom Slaps TalkSPORT For Gaunt Comments

U.K. radio regulator OFCOM has found UTV national Sports station TALKSPORT in breach of its codes for the comments by former talk host JON GAUNT calling REDBRIDGE COUNCIL member MICHAEL STARK a "Nazi" and "ignorant pig" on his NOVEMBER 7th show. In the widely-reported incident, GAUNT ripped the councillor for the council's decision to ban smokers from foster parenthood, later calling STARK a "health Nazi," but apologizing before the show was over.
OFCOM ruled that the incident, following another breach on former host JAMES WHALE's show, indicated that the station's procedures to prevent offensive speech were not stringent enough. GAUNT was fired for the comments but has since launched a daily talk show online for his other employer, THE SUN, for which he writes a column.
