Music Choice Reorganizes Channel Lineup
May 12, 2009 at 10:11 AM (PT)
MUSIC CHOICE has revamped its music channel lineup as of APRIL 15th. The lineup changes were driven by results from an independent study conducted by OTX RESEARCH in late Fall 2008 which measured usage and attitudes of monthly music channel viewers, as well as ongoing customer feedback and music industry trends.
The new lineup will feature the debut of several new channels; the merging of a small number of music channels with complementing playlists; name changes of select channels; and the discontinuance of a small number of least-viewed music channels.
New channels on MUSIC CHOICE will be: MC Mixtape, Hip-Hop Classics, Retro Rock, Classic Alternative, Stage & Screen, Toddler Tunes, and True Country. Elsewhere, Dance and Electronica channels merge to become Dance/Electronica; and Big Band & Swing and Singers & Standards channels merge to become Singers & Swing.
Renamed MUSIC CHOICE channels include Throwback Jamz (formerly R&B Hits), R&B Classics (formerly Classic R&B), Soft Rock (formerly Lite Hits), Pop Hits (formerly Adult Top 40) and Tropicales (formerly Salsa y Merengue.)
Discontinued channels include Arena Rock, Retro-Active, Bluegrass, Showcase, Show Tunes, Rock ‘En Espanol, Americana, and Opera Broadband-only channels no longer available are Underground Rap, Old School Rap, Chillout, Classic Disco, and Indie Rock. MUSIC CHOICE Romances will become an optional channel.
"With one-third of our potential 13+ audience watching over the course of each month, MUSIC CHOICE is always looking for opportunities to enhance its current viewers’ experience while expanding its total audience," VP/Programming and Production DAMON WILLIAMS said.
