WSJ: Is McDowell's Renomination In Question?

Speculation about who will be nominated for the open Republican seat on the FCC has turned to speculation about the future of current commissioner ROBERT MCDOWELL, with the WALL STREET JOURNAL reporting that MCDOWELL's renomination is not assured.
The paper notes that some lobbyists for AT&T have indicated a desire for change, and the reason may center on MCDOWELL's decision to recuse himself from voting on the AT&T-BELLSOUTH merger in 2006.
The paper says that former Commerce Department official MEREDITH ATTWELL BAKER is the favorite for the open Republican seat and is being supported by Sen. KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON (R-TX), ranking member of the Commerce Committee.
