May 22, 2009 at 2:52 PM (PT)
ENTERCOM Alternative WMFS (93X)/MEMPHIS has flipped to a simulcast of sister Sports WSMB-A (ESPN SPORTSRADIO 680). The simulcast is carrying the full ESPN RADIO lineup except for 11a-2p (CT), when the station carries PREMIERE's JIM ROME.
VP and Market Manager DAN BARRON said, "Bringing ESPN to the FM band is a major step toward providing Memphians and Mid-Southerners quality sports programming through crystal clear reception. The historical presence of 680 AM combined with the reach and clarity of 92.9 FM assure passionate, engaged listeners ample opportunity to follow their favorite teams, personalities and receive breaking sports news from the broadcast authority in sports: ESPN."
93X had been an affiliate for the "ROVER'S MORNING GLORY" CLEVELAND-based syndicated morning show, which has been dropped in MEMPHIS as a result of the format flip. OHIO MEDIA WATCH reports that ROVER discussed the flip on his show THURSDAY morning.
