CRTC Grants New FMs In Ontario

The CRTC has granted licenses to BAYSHORE BROADCASTING CORP. and INSTANT INFORMATION SERVICES for new FMs in ORILLIA, ON. BAYSHORE will launch a Soft AC on 89.1 FM with 2,100 watts. INSTANT will operate a low-power travelers' information format with 27 watts on 98.5 FM. The two applications beat out bids from NEWCAP, DEBRA MCLAUGHLIN, FRANK TORRES, LARCHE COMMUNICATIONS, NICK MONTAGUE, and ROCK 95 BROADCASTING LTD.
INSTANT also won a license to provide a low-power travelers' information format at BRACEBRIDGE and GRAVENHURST, ON, with 25 watts at 101.9 FM. In addition, MUSKOKA-PARRY SOUND BROADCASTING was granted an increase in power for its Hot AC CFBK (MOOSE FM)/HUNTSVILLE, ON from 5,000 to 43,000 watts. Applications for new stations in BRACEBRIDGE-GRAVENHURST by BAYSHORE, BILL WRIGHTSELL, EVANOV COMMUNICATIONS, and two from JOCO COMMUNICATIONS were rejected.
And L.A. RADIO GROUP's proposal to use 101.3 FM with 26,000 watts for its previously granted new FM at RED DEER, AB was given the CRTC's okay. L.A. RADIO GROUP had originally proposed 100.7 FM with 27,000 watts for the station.
