WashPost Report: WJFK Plans Sports Flip

Long-standing rumors of a flip of CBS RADIO Talk WJFK/WASHINGTON to Sports have gained currency with a report in the WASHINGTON POST citing sources "involved in the change" that the flip will take place in JULY.
The move will put WJFK in competition with RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING's Sports WTEM-A (ESPN 980) and would follow similar CBS FM sports flips in DETROIT, BALTIMORE, and DALLAS. The POST's PAUL FARHI reports that WJFK has been talking with former REDSKIN LAVAR ARRINGTON and POST columnist MIKE WISE about hosting shows.
RED ZEBRA's BRUCE GILBERT told FARHI, "Anytime there's competition in radio, it usually means there will be more listeners. More people doing what we're doing exposes more people to sports radio."
