CBS RADIO Classic Hits WCBS-F/NEW YORK is replacing its SUNDAY night "Radio Greats" and top-20 countdown with a customized version of "DICK BARTLEY's Classic Countdown," 7-11p, reports DAVID HINKLEY in THE DAILY NEWS. "Radio Greats" and the top-20 countdown had been vestiges of the 'old' CBS-FM, and PD BRIAN THOMAS says that two of the most frequently-heard 'radio greats,' NORM N. NITE and DON K. REED, will return 'on special occasions.'
"THOMAS also says that taking BARTLEY's show, which starts this SUNDAY, 'does not mean listeners will never hear '50s or early '60s music again on WCBS-FM.' The weekend 'Hall of Fame' feature, he said, will continue to feature 'roots of rock 'n' roll' once a month.
"THOMAS notes that the departing SUNDAY night programs were the only weekend 'daypart' programs on WCBS-FM that were not in the city's top 10."
