TMZ.COM broke the story that pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON has indeed passed away following a cardiac arrest at his home, and it's now been confirmed by the LOS ANGELES TIMES that JACKSON has died.
MICHAEL JACKSON was rushed to UCLA MEDICAL CENTER following a cardiac arrest at his rented home in nearby BEVERLY HILLS, CA. Paramedics responded to a call at JACKSON's home around 12:26p. He was not breathing when they arrived. The parademics performed CPR and took him to UCLA MEDICAL CENTER.
JACKSON, 50, was at a home he's renting on Carolwood Drive off SUNSET BOULEVARD in the BEL AIR section of BEVERLY HILLS that rents for $100,000 a month. The home is about two minutes away from UCLA MEDICAL CENTER.
He is survived by his three children, PRINCE MICHAEL I, PARIS and PRINCE MICHAEL II, as well as his mother and father, and siblings JANET, REBBIE, LATOYA, MARLON, TITO, JACKIE, and RANDY. For a look at JACKSON's life, just click here.
Radio Responds To The King Pop's Passing
Radio swung into action with on-air and on-site tributes and listener reaction to JACKSON's sudden death. CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK discussed his passing and played his music, and displayed a tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, as did crosstown CBS Top 40 WXRK (92.3 NOW FM).
In LOS ANGELES, CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KIIS-FM carried a similar company-wide on-site tribute to MICHAEL, while, crosstown CBS Top 40 KLSX had a page devoted JACKSON, as well.
WLTI (LITEROCK 105.9)/SYRACUSE started playing back-to-back MICHAEL JACKSON hits just after 7p and will continue thru 4p FRIDAY. We are announcing it as a tribute to the career of the onetime 'King Of Pop.' OM/PD TOM MITCHELL and APD BRIAN PHILLIPS stayed late THURSDAY loading every MJ hit into the system.
