July 30, 2009 at 4:48 AM (PT)
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WNCI and AC WLZT/COLUMBUS PD MICHAEL MCCOY is making the move to MOTOWN as PD of sister WKQI (CHANNEL 95.5). His last day at "the 614" is FRIDAY, JULY 31st.
Wrote CLEAR CHANNEL/COLUMBUS Dir./Programming JOHN CRENSHAW, "MICHAEL joined us almost five years ago as WNCI PD, added WLZT two years later and has done a fantastic job with both stations. Our success did not go unnoticed! From the syndication roll-out of DAVE AND JIMMY to four of the biggest 'Red, White and Booms' ever -- to helping get WBNS-F out of a music format, not to mention a stellar ratings history along the way, WNCI has a lot to be proud of during MICHAEL's time at the helm."
DETROIT OM TODD THOMAS added, “Despite being a NY YANKEE fan, MICHAEL’s a good dude. His experience and track record in the Top 40 format, as well as his knowledge of CHANNEL’s market history, makes him the perfect choice to take the reigns.” TODD will also be utilizing MICHAEL for other programming responsibilities amongst DETROIT’s seven-station radio group.
The search for a new PD for WNCI and WLZT is already under way.
In the meanwhile, LAURA LEE will be the interim PD for WNCI, while continuing her role as PD of WBWR and WRXS. CRENSHAW will act as interim PD for WLZT, while continuing as WCOL PD and Dir./Programming. DAVEMAN will take over the music duties for WBWR, while continuing his role as Online Content Director and JOEL RILEY will take over morning drive on THE BREW, while continuing his roles on WTVN and WLZT.
