Capitol Corners Sports In Raleigh-Durham With Multi-Station Deal

CAPITOL BROADCASTING is taking control of the sports radio market in RALEIGH-DURHAM with the purchase of Sports WDNC-A (620 THE BULL) from MCCLATCHEY BROADCASTING, while CURTIS MEDIA buys Sports WRBZ-A (850 THE BUZZ) from MCCLATCHEY and plans to flip the station to an as-yet-undisclosed music format, according to CBS affiliate WRAL-TV. CAPITOL owns Sports WCMC (99.9 THE FAN) in the market and will also buy Gospel WCLY-A/RALEIGH from CURTIS to flip it to Spanish Sports with ESPN DEPORTES, and will sell NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK to CURTIS.
With the sales, WRBZ's DAVID GLENN will move to 99.9 THE FAN for middays noon-3p, and WRBZ's ADAM GOLD and JOE OVIES will move to WDNC for mornings. DURHAM BULLS minor league baseball will move from 99.9 THE FAN to WDNC. WRBZ-WDNC GM BRIAN MALONEY will remain on board to manage the sports stations, reporting to CAPITOL VP GEORGE HABEL.
