MIKE NORTH and other CHICAGO sports radio personalities who worked for Internet streaming station CHICAGO SPORTS WEBIO have sued the financier who backed the outfit and later got charged with running a Ponzi scheme. The CHICAGO TRIBUNE reports that the group filed suit in COOK COUNTY last week charging DAVID HERNANDEZ with failure to pay wages and writing bad checks.
The suit alleges that NORTH was offered an annual salary of $250,000 and 30% of the company and never received the shares; NORTH's wife BEBE was offered $100,000 as COO, and host CHET COPPOCK was offered a $100,000 salary but only got $18,000 before the station failed in JUNE.
HERNANDEZ, who became a fugitive after being charged but was found and pleaded not guilty to the charges, is in custody in CHICAGO.
