NEWCAP Classic Rock CFXL (C103)/CALGARY, AB CANADA took market competition old school and to the streets when AC/DC came to town and 70,000 descended on a small town of 100,000.
Upon hearing rumors of the competition attempting to steal some of their audience by attaching themselves to the AC/DC event, C-103 rallied resources from sister stations outside the market and built a super-sized street team that greeted crowds at local establishments and on sidewalks for 8 hours the day of the show.
It all culminated with C-103 staffers by the concert entrance blasting t-shirts out of a cannon and AC/DC cranking out of the station vehicles as fans walked in to the show with no other station’s presence in sight.
