The FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION will be holding workshops in DECEMBER examining what ails the journalism industry. The NEW YORK TIMES reports that the two-day affair, "From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?," will aim to create a report with recommendations for lawmakers on policies targeting the industry's woes.
FTC Chairman JON LEIBOWITZ told the TIMES that the commission has looked in a similar fashion at other industries. LEIBOWITZ' wife RUTH MARCUS is an editorial writer for the WASHINGTON POST.
