WARNER MUSIC's WARNER/CHAPPELL, along with PEERMUSIC and BUG MUSIC, INC. have filed lawsuits against LIVE UNIVERSE, INC. in a federal court in LOS ANGELES and MOTIVE FORCE, LLC in a federal court in PITTSBURGH, writes THE TENNESSEAN.
"We have been seeing an effort by many companies to provide a legal market for lyrics," said NATIONAL MUSIC PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION Pres. DAVID ISRAELITE. "We're going after illegal sites that are trying to profit without sharing it with songwriters and publishers."
The suits also name as defendants LIVEUNIVERSE's BRAD GREENSPAN, who was one of the developers of MYSPACE, and MOTIVE FORCE's SEAN COLOMBO.
