SANTA MONICA COLLEGE NPR KCRW/LOS ANGELES will launch ECLECTIC24 -- a new, online, all-music channel blending the collected talents and tastes of all the station’s DJs. The new channel will debut on the KCRW airwaves on LABOR DAY (9/7) from 9a-midnight (with a break for ALL THINGS CONSIDERED from 5-7p). After the LABOR DAY premiere, ECLECTIC24 will be available online 24 hours a day www.kcrw.com/eclectic24 and by clicking the ALL MUSIC tab at the top of KCRW’s home page.
The stream will encompass the whole scope of the public radio station’s musical footprint over the last 30 years, integrating musical discoveries from across KCRW’s talented team of DJs -- favorite new releases, the best of our rich live performance archives -- with the voices of numerous musical icons that have appeared on the station over the years.
ECLECTIC24’s programming curator is KCRW DJ and former MD CHRIS DOURIDAS, who is tapping into the station's vast and ever-growing digital library of over 500,000 songs and its exclusive archive of 2000+ live performances and interviews, as well as exclusive KCRW music features.
KCRW MD/MORNING BECOMES ECLECTIC host JASON BENTLEY said, "Music fans still want to be surprised and turned on to something completely unexpected -- that’s the beauty of radio. What’s special about this new channel is that it combines those fresh ideas with the rich history of our station in a non-stop music stream for our fans worldwide. "Our online-only music stream is already one of the chief reasons people visit KCRW.com and ECLECTIC24 will truly reflect the essence of everything that we are, musically."
