KYLE SANDILANDS' latest on-air miscue has resulted in a month of unpaid suspension and counseling for the morning co-host from AUSTEREO Top 40 2DAY-FM/SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, but his comments joking that comic/actress MAGDA SZUBANSKI go to a concentration camp for weight loss have not earned him a firing. In a statement released THURSDAY, the station said that SANDILANDS will return OCTOBER 7th and has already served one week of the suspension; the pay that SANDILANDS would have earned will be donated to charity.
The controversial remarks came in the wake of SANDILANDS' earlier suspension for the now-infamous incident in which a 14-year-old girl strapped to a lie detector said on the air that she had been raped when she was 12. SANDILANDS and co-host JACKIE O'NEAL HENDERSON were suspended for the incident, which made headlines in the Australian press and drew disapproving comment from Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD.
