JAMES CRYSTAL RADIO Talk WFTL-A/FT. LAUDERDALE-WEST PALM BEACH afternoon host JEFF KATZ's campaign against the "pill mill" pain clinics in BROWARD, MIAMI-DADE, and PALM BEACH COUNTIES that dispense large amounts of oxycodone and OxyContin has seen its first concrete results, with a BROWARD COUNTY Grand Jury releasing a report calling for action and the PALM BEACH COUNTY Board of Commissioners passing an ordinance banning new pain clinic operations in the county.
KATZ said, "I was amazed when I saw the sheer number of pain clinics here in SOUTH FLORIDA. Literally hundreds of these store front operations in our three county area. There was clearly something wrong when so many of these places had parking lots filled with cars displaying out of state license plates and seemingly minimal standards for prescribing large amounts of oxycodone and OxyContin. BROWARD COUNTY led the nation in the number of deaths from prescription drug overdoses. When I learned that convicted felons and drug dealers operated some of these places, well I knew that I had to do something and I am happy to see that people are really paying attention now."
